Better to give than take
By: Jason RobinsonWhen you're feeling down.
And give you my smile,
It's good for a thousand miles.
Look ... I'd jump off this boat,
If it could not carry us both.
Hang onto the side.
I know that's how Leo dies.
But he didn't have you,
And this is what I'll do.
When I get cold,
I'll think of us growing old.
There are many fish in the sea.
But none swim with me,
Quite like you do.
I'd follow you into a whirlpool.
And ... we'd go round and round,
And we'd spiral down.
But with you by my side,
I'll close my eyes and enjoy this ride
With my love and best friend,
I finally understand,
Why it’s better to give than take.
I lost a rib but I gained a soulmate.
As long as I'm flesh and bone,
You will never be alone.
But if I must return to dust,
I'll say this prayer to the one we trust.
I'll take your fears,
Gather up all your tears.
They don't belong in your eyes.
This was clear the first time you cried.
When you ran into the night,
After our first fight.
Look, I was so ashamed,
I should of shared the fault, but on you I placed the blame.
It’s no secret or mystery.
This will be heard throughout history.
The day that we both dropped the ball,
Suffered mankind's very first fall
And even though it’s no simple change in weather,
We'll be all right if we can just stick together.
I'll say goodbye to strife.
Farewell to fights, I need you in my life
With my love and best friend,
I finally understand,
Why it’s better to give than take.
I lost a rib but I gained a soulmate.
As long as I'm flesh and bone,
You will never be alone.
But if I must return to dust,
I'll say this prayer to the one we trust.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for meeting my need.
She's a Godsend sent with Godspeed.
And when you take my goals,
And redefine my dreams.
Please take care she's in each and every scene.
If I fall asleep, and she's not there,
I'll be alone in my worst nightmare.
So I'll cherish each step we take,
And say thank you with each breath I make.
And when I need instruction how to love her,
You've got my ear, and she’s got the other.
Sound Advice
My love and fascination of music drew me to music composition. Combined with the joy of thoroughly communicating my feelings and thoughts, songwriting became something I wanted to share with others. The chance that others might identify with my personal experiences and observations while nodding or singing along, and the prospect of having someone's attention for a couple of minutes, and possibly impacting them positively for a lifetime. These were my motivations for recording Sound Advice.
