Follow Your Heart Lyrics

No need to sound the alarm,
I can tell by the tingle in my left arm.

Won't call it spider sense,
I know what broke out the cage and probably hopped the fence.Jaice
Thought it'd learn to heel by now,
who am I to blame, when I never taught it how.

Time to break out the leash,
keep it in reach.
Better yet, lock it up, and throw away the key.

People love to say, 'Follow your heart.'
like some simple walk in the park.
Are we talking Central after dark?
My heart had a head start.

Stepping left and right over feelings that were hurt,
obvious signs it was dragged through the dirt.
Clock is counting down for me to get it back,
but this is what it sounds like when hearts attack.

It couldn't gotten far.
I reach for my key, and jump into my car.

To think it's on these streets,
what a sick game of hide and go seek.

It's gonna sound so wrong,
if I say these words with a heartless tone.
So please come home,
back with me where you belong.

People love to say, 'Follow your heart.'
like some simple walk in the park.

So follow, is exactly what I did.
It took me off the grid.Jaice
Found traces of my heart,
What tore it apart?

Why it ran and hid?
Help me, God forbid.

That the traces of my heart,
Lead back to the start.

Story of the song

'Follow Your Heart' was written as my response to the phrase often used nonchalantly as the epitome of romantic wisdom. It sounds like great advice at first, but several footsteps in you find yourself in unfamiliar territory. The chase can lead you deep into the woods of despair. You suddenly realize the trail you’ve been following is littered with disappointment and hurt feelings, and eventually you come to the conclusion that your goal should be getting your heart back before it reaches its final destination.
