Story of the song
'Stupid Cupid' was the first song I penned lyrics to. After years of frustration from producing instrumentals that I couldn’t wrap my mind around lyrically, I got carried away by a 'crush' … 'infatuation' … whatever you want to call it, which translated lyrically into me getting a double dose of Cupid’s arrows. The side effect of course, was me floating up into the air, and out of sight, whenever she came around, which is a metaphor for how an unrequited desire to be more than friends can create a gulf of awkwardness between two people. In hindsight, the intense need to express myself that led to me writing the lyrics to 'Stupid Cupid' was the catalyst that helped me break through my writer’s block and put words to the rest of my songs.
